Hello David,If you are sure the cable is  in fact Telstra, not Optus, and it is still intact between your room, the exterior cabinet and the joint in the street pit, you can certainly do it yourself....

Thanks Prof.  The cable is definitely Telstra and there's no reason that I'm aware of that it should have been disconnected!  It is still connected inside the house and the termination box is still on...
