I have just checked my Telstra account again and the figures have changed to 2.25GB download and 8.06GB upload.

I have a ADSL 1 conection and because I am 8Km from the exchane the maximum dowload speed I get is 1.5mbps and the maximum upload speed is 0.70mbps?

Regards Chirpy.

Australia has a very high uptake of households with internet access... ours was at about 86% of households in 2014 (according to the communication department data), compared to the US at 73% (with over 1/3rd of those on a mobile broadband not fixed) and a global average of about 45% (according to the UN)... The countries above us tend to be nations of small area or high population density like Japan and Korea (both also in the high 80s) or the Falklands (which is at about 97%)

So between our high uptake, our very low population density (which actually majorly increases the cost of providing the service as they need more equipment in more locations and over larger distances) we end up having a harder time keeping up with demand...

Not to mention that the NBN kinda negates any financial benefit for any private investment into hardware like ports or exchanges...

You may need to work out a combination of Block and Allow for multiple rules to work properly.

I have tried putting in multiple time periods but it doesn't seem to work - either completely blocks or completely allows.  I need to understand whether this facitlity is even possible. Just because i can enter multiple periods blocking/allowing on different days does not mean that the software can handle it. Entering a bunch of days and times and trying to get it to work is pretty time consuming WHEN the software might not even allow the combinations i have entered.  I therefore need a proper desription by the manufacturer of what the software can do.

OK so let's be specific about what i need to know -

a) I want to allow internet access for a certain device 7am-9pm M to F and that same device 8am to 11pm Sat and Sunday.  Will this work?

b) Can i block/allow the GUEST account for certain periods of time? (when kids come over with their devices and they know the password i have to SPECIFICALLY block those devices otherwise they can access the internet at any time. Would be better to block guest access as a whole).

c) Where can i see what sites are being visited, and by which devices.

Thanks for your help.

Having the exact same thing happen here. Becoming very frustrated as I believe it is interfering with our LAN gaming within the house, causing corruption in saves due to the small interruptions in the connection. I am not ADSL however, but NBN.

Increased bundle price half way into 24 month contract

10 months ago i signed up for 24 months "M" bundle.Advertised price $100,as i had a $10 discount the girl included this (have transcript) all good.On checking the telstra web page re bundles I saw that it now was $90 with a $10 discount.Phoned up and was told that was correct and I would be paying $80.This has been the amount for the previous 10 months.New email informing me that the discount was in error and as of soon I would be paying $90.Phoned up and was offered a new bundle of $69,fair enough but phone not as good and another locked in for 24 months.Of course this is he said/she said but I think this has made the contract invalid and I can walk without any penalties.Sensible thoughts  welcome. The game of course is to get locked in before NBN arrives in my area.We won't mention the super ADSL2 speed ?.Hard of hearing and phone help is a problem, email address would be good to continue query.

All the best.

Look forward from any one but the fanboys.

Hi mate,
To keep you updated, I got a phone call from Telstra case manager they advised me the upgrade will now happen in June - 2 months away!
But that date isn't a guaranteed it could change! But let's hope it happens now in June!
If it doesn't happen like I said before contact the TIO and complain!
Good luck

I hear that they are putting 200 more ports in the Sub Exchange at Banksia Grove.

Anyone able to show me the information on that?

I'm almost relieved to hear other people are having the same issues. I'm in Greystanes and my typical download speed constantly slows down from 4.5mb/s to 50k/s which is making my life extremely difficult for watching streaming services and downloading games from Steam.

Just wish it would get sorted.

ADSL2+ slow speed

Hi all,

I live about 1km from the telstra exchange, but my internet speed rarely goes above 2.5Mbps. I've talked to Telstra tech support and sales on the phone, and found nothing out apart from that I apparently have adsl2+.  I'm currently using a brand new Telstra Gateway Max. Any help/advice anyone can give would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Forgot to mention it took 4 onsite tech callouts till I finally got a phone working, internet working and not dropping out if I made a phone call, phone working again, phone and internet working. Telstra and AFP (I saw a police car in front of one of the hackers houses) did sort out the two hackers though after I gave them their addresses and SSIDs. I heard the yelling from my house when they could not use their or my internet. Tough. And I know this sounds a bit far fetched, unfortunately it isn't.
