Hey there VK1,
When it comes to ADSL port availability there isn't much that can be done except what has happened and that is to request a connection and wait for a port to become available, wait for NBN to become available in the area, or to use an alternative internet service such as Wireless Broadband.
Installing additional ports into the network is a pretty big and somewhat expensive process, so as such the gains for the ISPs to do additional work on expanding their ADSL footprint with the NBN roll out looming is minimal and thus from a business perspective is not overly beneficial.
