Gah sorry, this is frustrating trying to reply to things, I keep losing my message text.
Ive run ping and traceroute tests. The modem connects, all solid green on power, wan , down and up buttons, the 2 wifif strength signals do their usual flash every now and then but mostly solid. Ive tried all 4 of the ethernet ports on the modem. Checked the fiber cable and baseboard panel (its a brand new connection, had for like 2 months only) Multiple reboots on pc and modem.
Sometimes it drops out for like 30 seconds then comes back on, at others its down for like 3-5 minutes.
the longest its held the connection for in the last 2 days has been for about 30 minutes but for the most part its just dropping in and out constantly. The speed is fine. no issue with speed. And its a fibre cable connection not copper. Its the connection so its either theres a local issue, its a faulty modem or the cabling from the exchange has lost integrity as far as I can discern.
Ive checked the admin page for the modem and my ip address expires at 1.40am tonight so im not sure if thats got something to do with it. Really not sure at this point.
