Cable broadband and also adsl

Hi, this may seem like a silly question but here goes anyway.

I'm renting a room in a house that is with telstra using cable broadband and home phone bundle.

With 1000GB shared between all the room mates it goes super quick without even reaching a month when the quota resets.

Telstra cable are awesome with really no lag and low ping its really great.

But when a lot of the house mates are streaming youtube at full hd i'm thinking of having my own unlimited quota connection.

Since telstra does not have any unlimited internet plan, is there any way to utilize the un-used ADSL line from telstra with another provider?

Other provider offered broadband only service where there are no requirements to rent a phone line with them.

Is this possible?

And if all goes well, as in the adsl have no significant lag or not much worse ping than using cable, then im going to switch to the cable for lag free games and smoother internet and the rest of the house mates can use the unlimited connection and they can stream youtube as much as they please.

Thanks for any response
