Re: Presto unmetered - for ALL devices?

Hi All,

Just to confirm this is the behaviour I am experiencing. However it is not reproducible. I only ever watch Presto using my smartphone and 'casting' to the Chromecast on the TV. Around (1/3) of the time the usage is unmetered, but most of the time it is metered.

To compound this I also noticed that now Foxtel Anytime is metered when I am sure that was always unmetered (and the Foxtel box directly talks to the my router which is bridged to the Netgear cable modem, all DNS settings are DHCP, so not manually added).

Finally I only started checking this after our HFC cable area was upgraded two weeks ago. This resulted in being assigned a new IP on a different subnet which was geo located in Brisbane rather than Perth (the Telstra DNS servers however remained unchanged), only recently the geo location is correctly identified. But I am told this would have nothing to do with this problem.

Frankly I don't see why either the DNS I use or where the IP I use originates would be a factor. Without knowing exactly how Telstra determine what is unmetered or not I would assume as long as a Telstra IP is transferring data to an IP streaming server which they have listed as unmetered then that would do it. Unless I am using a Smart DNS service or VPN then I should not see any problems.
