Cable internet - new connection 'provisioning'

have moved into different rental accommodation.  other providers were not able to offer an ADSL service due they said to the unavailability of a Testra service at the property.  contacted Telstra who offered a cable service - I did not want a landline connection and was told this was fine and was signed up to a cable internet service which I was assured was 4 x faster than ADSL.  great!

new modem arrived today - have connected to the Telstra cable outlet and switched on but do not get a 'planet' light.  have tried live chat with Telstra and was speaking with a person who established that my internet service was 'still in provisioning'.  promised to transfer me to Cable Technical Support so they could further check on this.

that was about 40 minutes ago and I'm still sitting here waiting.
