The 2.5mbps in today's standards are terrible and makes streaming on Twith basically impossible for decent quality. I also have a VPN connection into work and my upload speeds are almost useless for transferring work files from home.
It's such a shame Telstra always holds the country back when it comes to communications.
It looks like this topic was raised over a year ago. However I can't see much has changed. Do you know if NBN is available in your area? As I know it supports up to 40Mbps for upload.
