Hello. I signed up for a cable plan six weeks ago. A telstra technician came to our house and told us there was no cable access from the pit. He would have to put in a request to have the footpath dug up and a trench dug into our house. I told him to go ahead, he said it would take at least four weeks. Bummer. but I wanted cable. Two weeks later the Foxtel tech came to install Foxtel. Oops I thought, maybe I should have told Foxtel there was no cable access. The Foxtel tech had a look around, found another pit on the street, and proceeded to install the cable, which was up and running about an hour later. Cool, I thought. Should be easy to get my internet installed now. I rang telstra and told someone my tale, asked if they could post me a modem so I could self install. No, we cant do that, have to send a tech out to confirm that the cable is indeed working (thought the fact that foxtel was working would have been a good indication). We will send someone out next Saturday between 10 and 2. Great. Waited all day Saturday, no show. Rang telstra again, no that is very bad, believe me we take your problem very seriously, will call you back within two days. Didnt happen. Rang again. Pretty much same response, still no contact. Am at a loss as to what to do next. Could I buy a modem and self install? Would that work? Help?
