HI,
I've been with Telstra ADSL for two weeks after changing from WiFi 4G. 4G was giving me upto 22mbps quite regularly.
The ADSL that I'm on gets me 6.16mbps max. From the info below it appears that the DSL type is ADSL1, Why is this so?
Modem Gateway Max TG799vac
DSL Status Up
DSL Type ADSL_G.dmt
DSL Mode Interleaved
UP Down
Maximum Line rate 1.32 Mbps 11.02 Mbps
Line Rate 0.38 Mbps 8.16 Mbps
Output Power 4.3 dBm 19.7 dBm
Line Attenuation 14.5 dB 21.5 dB
Noise Margin 24.0 dB 13.3 dB
I live 950 metres from Cheltenham exchange in Victoria, that's by road not line of sight. Cheltenham exchange certainly has ADSL2+ because Telstra told me it had, and ADSL2+ was what I requested when signing up for the new plan.
I use Ethernet and WiFi with not much difference in speeds. My computer is optimised for 1-5Mbps. A new telephone line was installed purely for the Modem by a licenced technician. The isolation test proved nothing at all.
What are my options? Will Telstra respond to polite requests?
Regards
Ricked
