Hi forum,
I was hoping to receive some support and advice from you guys about my ridiculous internet speed.
I've moved into a home in Aspendale Gardens around the year 2007. Ever since, we have been Telstra with our internet and home phone. From memory, I believe we were on ADSL speed at that time, on a 24 month contract. Couple of years later, I bundled up my internet (ADSL 2+), home phone and foxtel (IQ and platinum) for approx. $210 a month, again on a 24 month contract.
There weren't that many internet uesrs in my home before, until recently. Due to the use of netflix, ipads, iphones etc, is when we realised, our internet is too slow... So i decided to call up Telstra to see if there is any upgrade that can be done.
Speed tests were conducted and a technician came, and it was confirmed that we have been on ADSL speed.
A RIDICULOUS 1.5mb/s speed!!!! WHICH IS NOT EVEN THE MINIMUM SPEED FOR ADSL! The technician then said it is Telstra that has to engage the connection to be ADSL 2+ and it is something he can't work on.
Therefore, for ALL THESE YEARS, i have been MISLEADED. I have been paying ADSL 2+ speed, for a ADSL speed.
I have been ripped off. I have been DEALING with this slow speed for MANY YEARS.
I was hoping to get your opinion on this case, has this happened to anyone?
I have been looking up at my rights as a consumer and looking to compensate. Any advice on how this will go ?
Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
